Supporting Carers Through Conversation and Collaboration

In June, we hosted our first carer engagement events, inviting carers from across Swindon to share their experiences, speak openly about the realities of caring, and help shape the future Carers Strategy for Swindon.

The events coincided with Carers Week 2026, which this year focused on the national theme, "Building Carer Friendly Communities." The week highlighted the vital contribution that unpaid carers make every day and the importance of creating communities where carers feel recognised, supported and valued.

Hearing directly from carers gave us invaluable insight into the challenges they face, as well as the support and services that matter most to them. Their feedback will play a key role in helping us develop a strategy that reflects the needs and aspirations of carers across Swindon.

To celebrate Carers Week and recognise the incredible contribution carers make to our community, we've created a short video capturing highlights from the day and some of the conversations that took place.
